Replacing Doritos with Dostoevsky

I saw the coolest thing in the paper the other day. The Chicago Public Library is researching the viability of putting book vending machines into el stations. I think this is a friggin awesome idea. Just swipe  your card, pick a new release and viola you have entertainment when your mp3 player is dead. I really hope this works out.

To anyone feeling especially Japanese today do you have any ideas for what else would be cool to see in a vending machine?

  3. Oh, I love this!!! I would MUCH rather get a classic novel from a vending machine rather than potato chips. :P

Hmmm...I'm not sure what I would like to see in a vending machine. I rarely use them...maybe nylons? Mine are always getting runs in the most random places and sometimes its inconvenient to drive all the way to a drug store to pick up a new pair.

Once I was in a mall in Topeka (random, I know) and they had vending machines with acne products in them. Haha!

  4. Wow!!!!!!! This is amazing. Vending machines aren't used in Pakistan though. We usually have small shops or kiosks selling food, newspapers etc at stations and stops.

Kanwalful: Yea, usually they aren't really used here either except for junk food so its interesting idea.

Nevine: That's the beauty, its free! It's from the public library so you just get to check em out and drop em off when you're done.

  9. WOW. But really, isn't the machine gonna damage the book in any way? I mean, the book is going to fall.

I would love to live in a place that has that vending machine.
